Makaela Bragg

I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences and a Minor in Music from the University of Washington, Seattle, where I was trained classically by Emerald Lessley, DMA, under the pedagogy of Dr. Kari Ragan.  I love learning about the physiology, acoustics, and psychology of singing and sharing that knowledge with others to help them strengthen and care for their voices.  I have experience singing as both alto and soprano.  I have performed and continue to perform choral, classical, jazz, pop, and musical theater pieces, as well as backup vocals in a rock band and my own music.  My knowledge of the intricacies of the voice and experience in many styles has given me a diverse toolkit to train the voice.

Music of all kinds tickles my fancy. Some of my favorite musical artists are Debussy, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Regina Spektor, Mr. Bungle, Nina Simone, XTC, Snarky Puppy, Roomful of Teeth, Barenaked Ladies, Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, and Paul Simon.  Some of my favorite vocalists are Jane Monheit, Juan Diego Florez, Maria Callas, Lauryn Hill, Whitney Houston, Neil Fallon, Etta James, Sarah Vaughn, and Amy Winehouse.
